HARING Keith

Keith Haring, American artist, painter and sculptor was born on May 4, 1958. Haring is an artist rooted in reality. He executes several thousand drawings with energetic and rhythmic lines. His paintings are part of the general movement of contemporary art. The themes he addresses in his work range from technology to tele-evangelism to sexuality to greed to poverty to violence and racism. His art is expressed in urban areas, in the streets, subways and warehouses. In 1986 Haring opened the "Pop Shop" in Soho. In this way he made art accessible to as many people as possible. Died February 16, 1990 in New York City.
