Hand-knotted oriental rug in wool on cotton, dated 1953. The wool was hand-spun and naturally colored. Exceptional carpet.

KARABAKH : hand-knotted carpet from the extreme south of the Caucasus. They often wear geometric patterns, as well as stylized Iranian-inspired floral motifs, where French-style roses and flowers predominate. These carpets often have a double row of knots between the weft threads. Velvet in cochineal (carmine red) is common.
